Maui is one of the top island destinations in the world, and also one of the top wedding location choices in the USA. However, many people don't realize that there are bagpipers available here on Maui, to add that special Celtic flair to your wedding ceremony and reception.

Hamish Douglas Burgess is a Scottish bagpiper, available on Maui to play the pipes at your wedding. Hamish plays the Great Highland Bagpipe and has played many cultural events here on the island. He has played weddings here on Maui, local ones as well as for visitors at hotels (such as the Kapalua Bay Hotel, Ritz Carlton Kapalua, Grand Wailea Resort, Maui Prince and the Fairmont Kea Lani, and on Lanai the Manele Bay Hotel and the Lodge at Koele), and it is appropriate here to mix the beach and sunset ceremony with a piper. Hamish has played ceremonies here that have had Hawaiian musicians, Hula dancers and a bagpiper !
He wears full formal Highland dress of Prince Charlie Jacket, kilt and plaid, or can be more casual in 1700's style Jacobite attire with open shirt, bonnet, kilt and plaid.

The normal price for a solo piper to perform at a wedding here is $200 for an hour or so, and during that time he can play before, during and after the ceremony, a few tunes at a time. He currently plays for local wedding entertainment companies, Tihati, Envisions, Musical Options, and C.V.P. Entertainment. Maui wedding co-ordinators and ministers that book Hamish include the Rev. Hamish is a founding member of "The Isle of Maui Pipeband", formerly called "The Maui Celtic Pipes and Drums", a non-profit bagpipe band serving the Maui community, and has been a visiting member of "The Cornish Caledonian Pipes and Drums" in the UK. In the summer of 2000, Hamish and Michael Riedel travelled to Scotland to represent Maui and the Hawaiian Islands in "The Millennium Pipe March", where 10,000 pipers and drummers marched through Edinburgh. This was the biggest gathering of pipers ever, and raised money for the Marie Curie Cancer Research charity. The lads were well received in their kilt uniforms and kukui nut leis!
If you are at all interested in a piper in full traditional dress for your wedding, or even casually kilted and barefoot, don't hesitate to e-mail us.
A $50 deposit will secure your wedding date, which is refundable up to 3 months before the date, after which time it becomes non-refundable (due to the unlikelyhood of rebooking another wedding at short notice).
In the unlikely event of a family emergency requiring Hamish to leave Maui at the time of a wedding, another good piper will be provided as a stand-in.
